Vaisakhi 5K, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. It is recognized by the State of New York as a charity and by the Internal Revenue Service as a Charitable Foundation. It is our ongoing mission to support reputable causes with a portion of the proceeds we generate.
We encourage runners of all demographics to participate in the Vaisakhi 5K. In previous years, we’ve had marathon runners and first-time racers alike complete the race. Participants may run, jog, or walk to the finish line.
You can register online here, by calling (844)-VAISAKHI, or in-person at tri-state area Gurdwaras on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings. The last day to register is April 21, but we encourage you to register early as we have limited space.
No. In order to make race-day operations run as smoothly as possible, we will not be able to accommodate registrations on the morning of the Vaisakhi 5K. Interested runners should register as soon as possible before April 21.
Race-day begins at 7:00am, but runners should arrive no later than 8:30am on Sunday, April 23rd and check in at the tables near the starting line. Ardaas will take place at 9:15am, and the race will commence at 9:30am.
We will award the top three men and top three women aged 17+. We will also award the top three boys and top three girls aged 12-16. Winners are selected by gun timing i.e. the first three runners in each category to cross the finish line, regardless of when they crossed the start line will be awarded.
There are many different ways to get involved either on race-day or prior to the race. Sewa teams include registration, crowd control, hydration stations and more. Please e-mail email@example.com to find out more!
